Today was a much better hump day! We knocked out some school before gymnastics, even squeezed in a library visit and our day still ran very smoothly!
For language arts Karter recognized and identified if a word was a long 'a' or long 'e', he completed the whole page correctly, himself, independently...impressed momma!
This week we added some new sight words: come, big, where, jump, away. After studying the flashcards Karter wrote out sentences using each word to help him make connections. We hung his sentences up on the wall as well as the flashcards. (gonna have to make another set now. lol) Also added some shape sightwords: circle, square, triangle, rectangle, star, oval.
For math we did more subtraction, -2 up to 5. and reviewed -1 up to 5. Continued using manipulatives, which worked well for him. He says he misses addition! lol
New states for Geography this week: New York, Virginia, Idaho
At the library today we had a great time, the boys played at the centers and read books. Kris got a little vocal at one point, we're working on our whisper voice! I really wanted to get Karter the novel "Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe", big surprise, they didn't have it (sarcastic tone). We did score a Narnia short early readers story though. We also checked out a few other early readers, a new giranamo Stilton chapter book, a Scooby doo chapter book, a couple books about maps, North America, and different time zones around the world, oh and Kris picked out a cow book!
We were surprised around 1 or so with a mid day snow shower! Karter opened the door to let the dogs out and screamed "Mom, real snow falling!" It was a nice mid day splurge! He and Carrie danced in the big fluffy snow flakes, and caught some snowflakes with their hand and mouths. Unfortunately the snow didn't last but an hour or so, it turned to sleet and the snow dissipated rather quickly! We said some prayers asking "for 5" so we can sled and ice skate" lol
