Prima Latina is the lowest level of Latin offered by Memoria Press, it's suggested grade level is 2nd grade but works well for any beginning students. Prior to even getting started in the currirulum I was browsing through The Classical Teacher Magazine I received from Memoria Press and I was really intrigued by the article "The Wrong Way To Teach Latin." It had some interesting points but the greatest was; when learning a new language, either modern or classic you should learn to read it first. It states that the more modern approach of natural learning meathods, meaning like how children naturally learn a language through immersion, have lowered our academic standards in foreign languages. This is mostly due to the fact that there isn't natural emersion, it's impossible in one hour a week lessons. The focus should be more on learning to read and write a new language. So we jumped into this curriculum with a new classical outlook!
